Greenshot is a free tool for taking screenshots in Windows. With Greenshot you could capture the entire screen, a window or a specific region. Captured image can be edited by adding annotations, highlights, etc, text. Basically, if you are familiar with Snagit, you will find yourself at home with Greenshot which is a freeware alternative to Snagit screen capturing tool.
